A weekly choir timed for homeschool afternoons.
Every Tuesday, right after co-op lets out, K-8 students gather to sing — worship songs, classical choir repertoire, Broadway and pop, all in one season. No audition, open to any faith or none.
Rehearsals are held in the choir room at Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City. This program is run by Musicality Music Academy — it isn't run by or affiliated with any specific homeschool co-op or campus.

Rather than specialize in one style, the season moves across worship music, classical and traditional choir pieces, Broadway and musical theater, and contemporary pop — chosen for what's fun to sing in a group and achievable for young voices.

Where you'll rehearse
Weekly rehearsals happen in the choir room — the same space used for voice and piano lessons, and the Thursday adult choir.

Where you'll perform
On the third Sunday of the month, the children's choir performs during the Sunday morning service in the sanctuary, which seats a thousand people. A 30-minute rehearsal starts at 9:00 AM ahead of the 10:00 AM service.

Rory has taught music for more than twenty years and is the music director at Faith Presbyterian Church, where he already leads a weekly choir in the same room your child will rehearse in.
In 2026 his student Freya Terris, then seventeen, became the first one-handed pianist to pass Grade 8 with the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music in the board’s near-140-year history, after relearning the instrument left-handed following surgery. It's the same patience that shapes every rehearsal here, child or adult.

A voice doesn’t develop on its own.
“Most kids stop using their voice by eight or nine — not because they lost it, but because nobody gave them a room to be imperfect in front of other people. A choir is that room.
- Pitch, tone, and rhythm develop fastest in a group — it's a natural way to build skills.
- Singing together teaches kids to listen to others while producing their own sound, and to follow direction in real time.
- Worship is part of the repertoire because I believe music is one of the most unique ways to worship. That’s my own conviction, not a requirement here.
- Music has been quietly cut from a lot of school schedules. This choir is my way of making sure it isn’t the only chance a child gets.
- Singing music from other cultures and eras teaches kids that other people’s histories are as rich as their own.
- Some of these kids will go on to lead worship in a church one day. Others will use it somewhere else entirely — either way, it should start young.”

Who supervises the choir?
Rory and two adult volunteers — all fingerprint-checked through Arizona DPS — are present at every rehearsal. Students sign in and out at drop-off and pickup, with both the student's and parent's name recorded, and parents are always welcome to stay.
Do we have to belong to a specific homeschool co-op to join?
No. This choir is independent — it isn't run by or affiliated with any particular co-op or campus. It's open to any homeschool family in the Valley, whatever program you're part of.
Is this the same as the Sunday church choir?
No. The church choir is a separate, all-ages group that rehearses Thursdays and sings at the Sunday service. This one is just for K-8 children, meets Tuesday afternoons, and doesn't require attending a service.
What if our family isn't part of a faith community?
That's fine — the choir is open to any faith or none. Some of what's sung is worship music, but nobody is required to participate in anything that conflicts with their family's beliefs.
Does my child need to audition or read music?
No audition and no need to read music going in. Reading music is something that develops naturally over a season of weekly rehearsal.
Can we use Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) funds to pay?
Many ESA families use their funds for extracurricular music tuition like this. Tuition here is billed monthly and priced to be ESA-eligible — confirm the specifics of what your ESA portal allows before enrolling.
