Voice lessons in Sun City, taught by Dan Ryan.
Almost nobody is actually tone deaf. What most people have is an untrained ear and a voice that has never been shown what to do — which are both fixable, at any age, and usually faster than you would expect.
Lessons are one to one with Dan at Faith Presbyterian Church in Sun City. You will work on breath, tone and range, and on the part most teaching skips: how to shape a line so it means something to whoever is listening.

Twenty years directing a church choir, now teaching voice full time.
Dan grew up in the south suburbs of Chicago, where a seventh-grade teacher first put a guitar in his hands to play for Friday Mass. He was accompanying singers at his church by the age of fourteen, and after moving to Arizona in 1983 spent the following decades leading praise teams and choirs and teaching voice, guitar and piano at Nazarene and Presbyterian churches — twenty of those years leading music at Heritage Presbyterian Church in Glendale.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from Arizona State University and spent fourteen years teaching general music and choir in the Isaac and Peoria school districts, guiding students aged ten to fourteen through vocal health, range and performance preparation. He retired from the classroom in 2021 and now teaches voice privately, still singing in ensembles as time allows.
His lessons start with listening, not correcting — building comfort and breath support first, then adding technique in small, repeatable steps. He also teaches beginner to intermediate guitar.

“Dan was warm, encouraging, and noncritical. He listened to me sing, watched my face, and made accurate observations about my love for music. Then he gave me a suggestion that brought instant help with my voice — and encouraged me to keep singing, no matter my age.”
